The Loose Goat

Maps, Data and more...

About Us

Launched in 2017 The Loose Goat was created to provide mapping and data services to any interest group, charity, SME, private or public body that was in need of GIS support. We are passionate and enthusiastic about maps and data but want to offer something a little different; to break from the rest of the GIS herd! Hence we are the loose goat. What makes us different is that we want to work with lots of companies big and small, with individuals and communities to make GIS more accessible, easier and affordable for everyone to use and consume.

Meet the team

Simon Miles was worked in the GIS industry for 15 years, chiefly in the Public Sector. He was the driving force behind The Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead's migration to Open-Source GI Solutions which has over subsequent years saved the council over £100'000 in license and maintenance costs. Simon runs the South-East arm of the UK QGIS user group and guest lectures in GIS at the University of Hertfordshire and presents at various geographic information based events. In 2015 he contirbuted to the AGI (Association for Geographic Information) Foresight Report 2020 Prior to working in Local Government Simon studied Archaeology and worked for various archaeological units across the county.
